Quiet September

September is Summer’s last gasp before cold and dark.

The days get shorter but are still filled with light. The breezes are cooler but don’t bring goose pimples to your skin.

The expectation is in the air; soon, it will be time for holidays, a time for gathering and celebration.

But September is quiet, solitary.  The only holiday you celebrate is when the leaves turn from green to gold or red.

September is the quiet before the chaos of ghosts and goblins, elaborate Thanksgiving dinners, and Yuletide revelry.

September does not ask anything of you except just to be.
