The Silence of A Tree Walking

Like two saplings we lets our roots indulge in the comfort of stability

Intertwining the fibers of our beings

as a promise to always hold each other

Connecting from a network beyond the eye

We relied on one another when the hurricanes came

Whether from the East or West

No matter what

No matter where

We took turns within the seasons

Allowing our fruits to flourish

One after another

Celebrating with floral blooms

A collective of ten rings added to our cores

But as we grew we trailed out our roots

our branches reaching for opposing sides

The birds that have nested in our arms

Now forced to make new homes

And the mites are deeply burrowed inside

There was a time where the sun kissed us both

Where the dirt under was deep and nutrient rich to supply our growth

When the rain washed away our moments of love-hate

But that was before the last wind of the last hurricane

Slowly within time I pulled away

My roots have lifted

I’ve gone astray

For if I stayed

My leaves would’ve wilted

My branches snapped

And I wouldn’t have any fruit to offer where I stood at

But no matter what

And no matter where

The bees will carry my well wishes

But I can no longer breathe the same air
