July

The month that carried me

The season of the sun and rainfall

The cumulus clouds clustered over heavier this year

The heat choked my airways with no breeze to subside

And the showers came down for hours until the land I stood on was flooded

This is suppose to be my time of revival

A new age

A moment to gather my heart and fill the room with the faces that belonged to them

But my garden is bare

The flowers hold no nectar for they have dried out

And the seeds I buried have been washed out

But at least when fall comes

I won’t be expecting a harvest

Instead everything will be uprooted

And when the winter passes and spring is to come

I’ll be laying down rich soil to nourish the new life

As redemption to my losses.
