The Contexto

A purple nebula cloud floats in space. Some green space whales float in space towards a blue planet. Near it are multiple floating golden asteroids. A medium-sized silver starfighter with a green flame and the letters V-X1 is at a standstill. Inside is Deoos Alliance pilot Wayne Zooblo, a human man in his early twenties. He sports a five-o’clock shadow, green eyes, and a clean-cut haircut. He wears the standard blue and green pilot uniform. Around him are buttons and flickering lights. His green helmet is off to the side. He has a wrist device and a yellow belt with various items.

Wayne has been a pilot for two years and has just completed his first solo mission, dropping off medical supplies to the Zygoon people of Akirooz. As he leans back into the red leather chair, Wayne pushes a button on the control panel. He then speaks: “Pilot Zooblo, code DA-3224Alpha.”

A beep is heard followed by a female voice. “Zooblo, good to hear from you. This Commander Marisso. How was your first solo outing?”

Wayne smiles. “Good. Better than dealing with Bounty Hunters that one time.”

Marrisso chuckles. “You handled yourself well with a blaster. Top of your class. A real dead eye.”

“Thank you, commander. The mission was a success. However, they still want to remain a neutral species.”

“That is fine. We can’t force them to join, but we can still help.”

“Of course. I’m happy to help. I just don’t want those with ill intentions to take advantage of them.”

The purple nebula starts to float towards the idle ship. A flash goes off within the cloud, revealing a castle structure. Marisso is speaking. “The Deoos Alliance will always step in if innocents are at risk, even if it means sending in a small team or doing it in secret. We won’t let evil consume the galaxy.”

Wayne smiles. “That’s why I joined.” Wayne pauses. “When I’m back at Cityscape, I’ve got a fun story for you and the crew.”

“Finally going to tell us about that red-skinned woman?”

Wayne laughs. “Caught me red-handed.” Both of them laugh.“I think it’s time to open up.”

“I knew you would.” The purple nebula is getting closer. Marisso is cut off by static.

“Commander? Hello? Come in! Commander Marisso!” Wayne looks through the clear cockpit screen to see the nebula coming towards him. “No alerts?” Wayne tries to move the steering device. But then the ship is struck with purple lighting from the nebula. Wayne is shocked as he dematerializes. 

Wayne wakes up in a pit of skeletons. He is shocked, as he looks at the various alien skeletons. Wayne looks up to see a light. He takes a deep breath. “It will be okay.” He then climbs up towards the purple light. Wayne makes his way out of the pit and onto some wetland. On his knees, he looks up to see a large Gothic-style castle in the distance. “What in the void is this place?”

Wayne gets up slowly as he moves away from the skeleton pit. He pulls out his yellow comm device from his yellow belt. He also has a silver blaster on his left side. Other small items are also on the belt. He pushes the button and speaks. “Hello! Does anyone come in? This is a distress signal from Wayne Zooblo of the Deoos Alliance. Emergency code XTD-98. I think I’ve been sucked into some type of anomaly near the Gelf sector.” Static.

He puts the device back on his belt. Wayne finally looks at his surroundings. To the front, he can see the castle with a shallow black water path leading towards it. Behind him is the skeleton pit, then a drop-off into space. Large green spires float around all over the place. Wayne pulls out a small green square scanner device. A beep is heard. “Someone or something is in the castle.” He sighs. “So, much for a regular day.”

Wayne starts to move forward across the path. The water goes up to his knees. As he walks he does a diary log into his wrist device. He pushes a button. “I’m unsure what is going on. But a blast of purple lighting has brought me into a nebula. This place seems to have some type of ecosystem. Perhaps it uses bubble sphere tech. It could also be run by a being levels above us. Either way, I need to get out of here. I won’t end up as a skeleton in that pit.” He pushes the button to stop the recording.

He reaches the large black doors of the mostly purple castle. Then he hears a scream from what sounds like a little girl. “Help me!” Wayne draws his blaster and opens the door slowly. “Help!” A small blue girl in a pink dress is grabbed by a purple humanoid creature. It has no face, is lanky, and looks to be made of purple crystals. It pulls the girl into a room on the second floor as it closes the door.

Wayne yells. “I’m coming!” He runs up the large red staircase and to the left. He tries to open the door, but he can’t. “Screw this!” Wayne shoots the black door knob and kicks the door open. The little girl has her mouth covered by the creature; it closes a black gate and disappears into the darkness. Wayne yells into the darkness as he runs. “I’m coming for you! Hold on!” Wayne punches the gate. It barely moves. He breathes in slowly. “You’ve got this.”

Wayne turns around to see a small yellow paper on the floor. He picks it up to see a crudely drawn map. It points to the center tower of the castle. Wayne reads the small message aloud. “It takes its victims to the center tower. If I am taken, come find me there. The golden diamond will lead you. But time is limited. Hurry.” Wayne looks confused. “Why does this feel planned?” Wayne then thinks to himself. No, she needs help. I can feel it. I need to help her.

Wayne exits the room to see that the main room has now changed. It is a larger staircase that goes around a pit of darkness. The staircase only goes up. Wayne looks down into the darkness over the ledge. He then looks up to see a large golden diamond in the roof area above him. Wayne remarks. “Guess I’m going up.”

Wayne’s first time in action was one that scarred him and the Deoos Alliance for life. An experiment to create artificial storms went wrong, and the Deoos Alliance was called into one of the near-core and alliance worlds of Voon. Wayne was the support staff for the fighters. But as the planet started to break down, he and three others became cut off from the evacuation crew. 

To make things worse, an emergency transport of kids was hit by lighting blowing it up. The debris from the transport hit all of the crew, but Wayne. Now he lives with survivor guilt. Wayne is thinking about this as he reaches the top of the stairs. He finds a golden door. He enters slowly with his blaster drawn and sweat dripping down from his forehead. 

“Hello!” Wayne shouts. The purple creature jumps onto Wayne, and Wayne’s blaster is hit away. Wayne struggles to get the creature off of him. Its pitch-black face stares a hole into Wayne. A red tongue then comes out as it wraps around his neck. Wayne is choking. Wayne then makes a finger motion, and his gloves light up red. He grabs the tongue, and it starts to melt.

The creature jumps back with its damaged tongue. Wayne then makes another finger motion, and his gloves turn blue. He rushes towards it and punches it in the large black-face hole. The creature is electrocuted. It falls down and turns into purple goo. Wayne picks up his blaster, and the lights turn on in the room. A purple door appears in front of him. “I’m sick of this place.” He wipes the sweat off of his face.

Wayne enters to see the little girl standing with her back towards him. She is looking at a large purple diamond in the center of the room. “Are you ok? I’m from the Deoos Alliance. My name is Wayne Zooblo. We can leave now. Do you know how we can?”

She turns around slowly. The large purple diamond starts to become a large face with large red eyes and a yellow smile. She speaks, and so does the purple diamond, both of their mouths moving at the same time. It is a male voice. “You have lived this long. You are my next host.”

Wayne is confused. “Give up the girl!”

Both of them speak at the same time. “She has been gone for nearly a million years. She is not a good host, but you are.”

Her body turns to dust in front of Wayne. “Why?”

“For conquest! I am the last of the Contexto! Brag the Supreme! Many have made it this far, but their bodies can not hold my soul. But you are different. You can hold my soul and my powers.” Wayne notices a purple heart-shaped diamond within Brag. Perhaps a weakness?

Wayne puts down his blaster. He knows he has to end this creature before it gets out, and he has a plan. A plan of deception. Wayne shrugs. “Okay, I give in.”

Brag laughs. “I knew you would.”

Wayne keeps looking at the diamond. This could be the way to stop him. “Actually, change of plans.”

Brag frowns. “Excuse me. What do you…” Wayne picks up his blaster and fires a few shots into Brag’s mouth. He hits the heart-shaped diamond, causing it to explode. Brag screams. “No! How could you?”

Brag is exploding from the inside. Wayne turns around and sits down in peace. He knows that this is it. Then a purple lighting blast hits Wayne from behind. Wayne appears in his Starfighter. In front of him, he can see the purple nebula explode. Wayne pushes a few buttons and flies out of the way. He breathes a sigh of relief as he looks outside to see purple diamonds floating in space.

Wayne sits back to relax. He is lost in thought about what has just happened. Wayne remarks, “The galaxy is one strange place.” He pauses. An incoming message signal appears. It is from Commander Marisso. Wayne breathes in deeply. Beads of sweat drip from his forehead. “I’ll explain on the way.” Wayne pushes a few buttons as a lightspeed hole opens up. The ship flies off as Wayne says, “Commander, do I have a story for you.”
